Veterinary nutrition plays a vital role in the development, safety, and quality of modern pet food. A balanced diet is not simply about providing food to a pet—it must supply the appropriate nutrients according to the animal’s species, age, size, activity level, physiological condition, and health requirements.
আধুনিক পোষা প্রাণীর খাদ্যের উন্নয়ন, নিরাপত্তা এবং গুণমান নিশ্চিত করার ক্ষেত্রে ভেটেরিনারি পুষ্টি (পশুচিকিৎসা-ভিত্তিক পুষ্টিবিজ্ঞান) অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করে। সুষম খাদ্যের অর্থ কেবল প্রাণীকে খাবার দেওয়া নয়—বরং প্রাণীর প্রজাতি, বয়স, আকার, শারীরিক কার্যকলাপের মাত্রা, শারীরিক অবস্থা এবং স্বাস্থ্যগত প্রয়োজন অনুযায়ী সঠিক পুষ্টি উপাদান সরবরাহ করাও এর অন্তর্ভুক্ত।
1. Supporting Overall Pet Health:-
Proper nutrition provides essential proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, and water needed for healthy growth, energy, immunity, muscle development, skin, coat, and normal body functions.
2. Nutrition According to Life Stage:-

১. পোষা প্রাণীর সামগ্রিক স্বাস্থ্য বজায় রাখা :-
সঠিক পুষ্টি উপাদান—যেমন প্রোটিন, চর্বি, শর্করা, ভিটামিন, খনিজ উপাদান এবং পানি—প্রাণীর সুস্থ বৃদ্ধি, শক্তি, রোগ প্রতিরোধ ক্ষমতা, পেশী গঠন, ত্বক ও লোমের স্বাস্থ্য এবং স্বাভাবিক শারীরিক কার্যকারিতা বজায় রাখার জন্য অপরিহার্য।
২. বয়স অনুযায়ী পুষ্টি :-
পোষা প্রাণীর জীবনের বিভিন্ন পর্যায়ে পুষ্টির চাহিদা পরিবর্তিত হয়। কুকুর ও বিড়ালের ছানাদের (পাপি ও কিটেন) বৃদ্ধির জন্য বিশেষ খাদ্যের প্রয়োজন হয়, যেখানে পূর্ণবয়স্ক প্রাণীদের ক্ষেত্রে শরীরের স্বাভাবিক অবস্থা বজায় রাখার জন্য পুষ্টির প্রয়োজন পড়ে। বয়স্ক প্রাণীদের বিপাকীয় পরিবর্তন ও স্বাস্থ্যগত চাহিদার কথা মাথায় রেখে খাদ্যের ধরনে পরিবর্তন আনা প্রয়োজন হতে পারে। ভেটেরিনারি পুষ্টিবিজ্ঞান পোষা প্রাণীর খাদ্য শিল্পকে জীবনের বিভিন্ন পর্যায়ের উপযোগী খাদ্য প্রস্তুত করতে সহায়তা করে।
৩. রোগ নিয়ন্ত্রণে পুষ্টির ভূমিকা :-

ভেটেরিনারি পুষ্টিবিদরা পুষ্টির ভারসাম্য, উপাদানের গুণমান, পরিপাকযোগ্যতা, খাদ্যের স্বাদ ও গ্রহণযোগ্যতা এবং নিরাপত্তার বিষয়গুলো বিবেচনা করে পোষা প্রাণীর খাদ্য প্রস্তুত ও মূল্যায়নে অবদান রাখেন। সঠিক ফর্মুলেশন বা খাদ্য বিন্যাস পুষ্টির ঘাটতি বা আধিক্যের ঝুঁকি কমাতে সাহায্য করে।

৬. ভেটেরিনারি পেশাজীবীদের ভূমিকা:-
